The HYPE OCC festival is a creation of camin aktion. Launched in 2023, its mission is to give a new platform to the diversity of urban dances, in all their forms and expressions — for the benefit of companies and the choreographic field, and to offer audiences across the region a richer, more diverse program.
From the 2024 edition onward, the regional bet paid off: HYPE OCC was co-led by camin aktion, L’Estive, national theatre Foix and Ariège, and the Casa Musicale Perpignan. In 2025, new partners in Tarbes joined the momentum, with Dans6T and Le Parvis ✱ national theatre Tarbes-Pyrénées linking the dynamic to the FEST’NOV festival. This year, La Maison Danse – CDCN Uzès Gard Occitanie is joining the festival.
HYPE OCC is now a network for sharing, support, and the touring of works, for all audiences. Through this approach, it is part of the shared momentum of RHOCC – Réseau HipHop Occitanie and the Réseau Danse Occitanie.
For its regional dimension, it is supported by the Région Occitanie. With the State’s elimination of the festival fund, DRAC Occitanie is no longer supporting HYPE OCC in 2026, putting this initiative in a precarious position — but the partners remain resolute and convinced that this approach deserves to continue, for the artists, the audiences, the works, and social cohesion. HYPE OCC is committed to the visibility of the works and to a logic of regional touring. This year, ONDA is providing support for the touring of the show Intimacy in Tarbes and Montpellier.
The Montpellier edition is supported by the City of Montpellier, and carried out with our partners Agora, cité internationale de la danse, the Opéra-Orchestre National de Montpellier, the Théâtre Jean Vilar, the Kiasma in Castelnau-le-Lèz, the Cinéma Utopia, and the Maisons pour Tous Mélina Mercouri and Georges Brassens. For the first time, we are partnering with the Art2Rue festival, led by the Maisons pour Tous de Montpellier.
