HYPE OCC – a festival with social impact
Hiphop culture — and the dances born from struggles for rights and liberation — are inseparable from their social dimension. We stand by this.
HipHop + dance + solidarity = HYPE OCC !
The values of hiphop culture are universal. Respect, sharing, togetherness, diversity, and peace are the foundations of this movement — a global phenomenon that resonates not only through its artistic forms but also through its profoundly humanist philosophy.
For us, camin aktion, a creative agency with a social impact, this vision is reflected in our year-round work.
Alongside the festival, company partnerships, our own productions, and training programs, we run camin’cubator, a program supporting emerging and newly arrived artists — some of whom have already performed at the HYPE OCC festival.
We also place strong emphasis on arts and cultural education.
Our association leads the #JeSuis socio-cultural program, which fosters human and cultural mediation. Through this program, we create access to culture and artistic practice for newly arrived individuals, unaccompanied minors, LGBTQIA+ refugees, and the local population — including the hearing impaired community — so that artistic and cultural experience becomes a vector of empowerment, exchange, and diversity.
This universalist vision also guides our approach to HYPE OCC in Montpellier, since its first edition in 2023.
Through an invitation policy for young people in precarious situations and for those traditionally excluded from cultural offers, we strive to make art and culture accessible to all. This approach is supported by dedicated cultural mediation. This year, a school session at La Mosson neighbourhood is offered to school groups and displaced youth.
We actively involve young amateur artists through dance and rap showcases, and of course, the jam, battle, and cyphers are open to them as well.
Since 2024, we have pursued a proactive accessibility policy, ensuring the presence of French Sign Language (LSF) interpreters at as many of our events as possible. Our dance workshops are wheel chair accessible.
This social commitment naturally comes with an economic impact — particularly for solidarity ticketing, mediation, and interpreter engagement. Here, you too can become a solidarity actor.
During the ticketing process, you are invited to choose a solidarity ticket, helping us offer invitations to people in vulnerable situations. You can also make a donation to our association, which is eligible for tax deduction for tax payers in France.
So that together, we can meet, celebrate, share, and dance. Merci!
