Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole runs the Impulsions residency program, which supports performing artists based in the metropolitan area.

Siaka Coulibaly is hosted in July and August, first at the former Bishop’s Palace (ancien Évêché) in Montpellier, then in a natural outdoor space in the town of Jacou. The residency provides an opportunity to deepen the choreographic writing of his site-specific creation Soubwéré. His research focuses on soundscapes, dramaturgy, spatial relationships, and audience engagement.

During a recent trip to Burkina Faso, the choreographer collected sound and visual materials that now serve as raw elements in the development of new connections for this public space performance. The residency also includes cultural and educational outreach, particularly aimed at young audiences.

In December, the resident artists of the Impulsions program will present their work at Agora – International City of Dance, during a professional showcase event.

The residency is supported by a co-production grant from Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole.
