Trained in traditional Nubian vault masonry, Siaka Coulibaly, born and raised in a rural environment, began dancing as a liberating movement in his life.<\/p>\n
Despite resistance from his family and social environment, he decided to leave his home village to pursue professional dance training in Ouagadougou.<\/p>\n
This methodical approach helped him realize that the techniques and rituals he had learned during his socialization\u2014whether in agriculture or masonry\u2014were all rooted in music, dance, and rhythm.<\/p>\n
Today, he conducts research around the gestures and materials specific to traditional masonry, exploring their relationship with movement, the body, and space.<\/p>\n
For three years, Siaka Coulibaly trained at Yeleen Don<\/strong>, the program led by Salia Sanou and Sa\u00efdou Boro<\/strong> at La Termit\u00e8re in Ouagadougou<\/strong>. He continued with intensive workshops and teachings in Burkina Faso, at the \u00c9cole des Sables<\/strong>, in Togo and Benin, with Germaine Acogny and Alesandra Seutin, Elsa Wolliaston, Ir\u00e8ne Tassamb\u00e9do,<\/strong> and Ladji Kon\u00e9.<\/strong><\/p>\n In Burkina Faso, he joined several dance companies, committed himself to artistic and cultural education, worked with blind children, and created the Urbain-Impro Dance Project.<\/strong><\/p>\n In 2022, he joined the professional training program of Anne-Marie Porras at Epsedanse<\/strong><\/strong> in Montpellier. That same year, he became an associated artist in camin\u2019cubator<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, <\/strong>a mentoring program for emerging artists.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.27.4″ _module_preset=”default” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” sticky_enabled=”0″]<\/p>\n Since 2023, he has served as the dance lead for the sociocultural program #JeSuis<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, aimed at unaccompanied minors, LGBTQIA+ refugees, and the local population\u2014since 2025, the program has also included accessibility in French Sign Language (LSF). He has created several performative works with this vulnerable audience.<\/p>\n In Montpellier, across the M\u00e9tropole and all the way to N\u00eemes, Siaka is one of the leading ambassadors of West African traditional dances and Afro-urban styles.<\/strong><\/p>\n For various participatory creations, he has collaborated with choreographer Sandrine Lescourant<\/strong>, beatmaker Kera Beatz<\/strong>, and theatre artists Mathias Beyler<\/strong> and Gabriele Paupini<\/strong>. With Nigerian dancer and choreographer Moses Olayinka Akintunde<\/strong><\/a><\/em>, he developed the duet Crossroads<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, presented at the 1km de danse day by the CND<\/strong>, on the forecourt of the Sc\u00e8ne nationale in S\u00e8te<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
